Transformation Tuesday - A New Challenge

This week marks the first week of a new Biggest Loser Challenge.  I'm coordinating this time and we've got 24 people confirmed so far.  It's a motivated group, so it should be a good event.  I'll be updating you all here, but this time, I'm going to try to include some tips for getting fit and healthy.  I welcome your questions, comments, and feedback.  :o)

Opening week tip:  Don't let the scale dictate how you feel about your body.  Even though the contest I am participating in is based on weight loss and what the scale tells us, it's important not to let the number you see on the scale dictate how you feel about yourself.

I struggle with this, because I am obsessed with watching the numbers on the scale.  I get frustrated when they bump up or don't go down fast enough.  I sometimes wonder why I do it to myself - let the scale control me - but can't seem to completely shake the habit.  That being said, I am getting better about acknowledging my successes and celebrating the non-numeric milestones.  Regardless of what the scale says, I KNOW that my clothes feel different.  I can tell that my eating habits are improving.  I recognize some of my triggers and am working to combat them.  It's not easy, but I'm doing it.

I've learned that I CAN do this, even though it is taking longer than I wanted it to.  My target goal date was May and it's been pushed back to July on the weight loss tracker I use.  But I'm not giving up, and I'm LIKING MYSELF regardless of what the little electronic monster in the bathroom says tomorrow morning!!

Do you struggle with letting the scale control how you feel?  What do you do to overcome the feeling?  I'd love to hear how you combat the number on the scale.  Thanks for your feedback.

  1. I was told not to weigh myself every day. As hard as that is, I need to do that, and just keep plugging away. Otherwise sometimes I see I've lost 2 pounds so I slack off, or let myself go for an evening, and then I gain it back before the end of the week. So, my goal is to only weigh myself on Tuesday mornings for this contest :D Then I'll always be in the mindset of watching what I eat, making sure I exercise - bczu I don't know what the scale says.
